Not meaning to diss the work done on basic hip, but what about, for exemple, Symphony of the Birds by Jim Fassett, which is still easily available on EM Records?

If there's a version commercially available, I'd suggest contacting basic hip to give him the opportunity to pull his version down. I certainly didn't know about it.

It's within the 'hood, that it's all good.

Do I take it that I should hold a different standard for sharing oop items which I buy commercially and that which I buy at bhdg?

litlgrey a dit…

There's no different standard. The question was, who has a high bit rate rip of "Kartoonery." The answer is, basic hip. He offers his rip and large clean scan for all of a buck and a half. If that's not what you consider ethical, then don't download it.

Oracle a dit…

So ethically, I can pay Basic Hip for his rip and share it with others free of charge.

Yes you can! Oracle. :-)

& Thank you Paul D. You made me a super happy person so many times and I make ears happy with your music again and again even more times (in other places). In fact I'm playing your rips everyday. (and of course many others).

Cheers!

You miss the intent of the question sir. You said buy it from the man but don't dare share it. I have bought as best as I can tell every rip at Basic Hip. Except the whistling records...I am not concerned about a dollar. I question your telling us not to share what we have purchased. I wondered if there was a difference in location.

Ask any restauranter... it's all about Location, Location, Echo-Location.

Huh!?

Hmmm...do I hear the old warcry "Free concert man, free concert..!!" Thank you, basichip for having this in a method that is easily accessible, for me, a person not necessarily a computer wiz! I hope you get some more rare Montparnasses and other things, like maybe Yan Tregger's Oddysea (I'm not spelling it right, I know!). Thanks again
