Here's a
MAJOR soundtrack by Toshiaki Tsushima, 70s 80s japanese soundtrack composer.
Best know for his work on
Gekitotsu! Satsujin ken (The Street Fighter) in 1974 :
directed by Shigehiro Ozawa with Sonny Chiba.
And :
The Green Slime directed by Kinji Fukasaku. A great SF movie in which a crew of
"i'm paying the rent right now, honey" american actors are terrorized by one-eyed tentacle monsters.
Today we'll focus on the Ape-mania spreading to the Far East in the mid-70s : we are nearly 2 years after the release of 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' (june 72) and Tsuburaya Productions released their own Ape-based tv series. It ran 26 episodes, 25 minutes each.
You'll have to trust me on this one, the soundtrack is
MUCH better than the series itself.. (not to be confused with the american one btw..)
=> It simply goes from a
'horns and marching bands' Morricone feel to a
'more-orchestrated & sound fx'd' Jerry Goldsmith one.. Very nicely produced. Songs sung in japanese.
That's 1h15 for 56 cues.
